Dripshield from EmpireMods

Postby dereck72 » March 4th, 2011, 11:50 pm

I got my dripshield today, quite happy with it. It's designed originally for the 901 to prevent the liquid that leaks out the side-hole on that atty from getting all over the place...If you want to use it on a 510 the shield has to go over the connection between the battery and atomizer (otherwise it's purely ornamental).
There are 2 o-rings on the inside, one at the top and one at bottom, to keep excess juice between the atty and the shield (and more importantly...off your fingers :P)and two holes at the top (closest to the drip-tip) between the o-rings for airflow.
On the Tornado the atty connection on the battery is raised, so it's not an issue. On a mod; however, if the connection is set flat with the top, you will have to use a 510-510 adapter...it works great that way as well.

So, here's how it looks:
On a Tornado:

I used a 510 modder's connector from AvidVaper (remove the nut and it's a 510-510 adapter):

On a Black Silver Bullet:

I went with a two-tone anodized finish, looks slick, and the draw is very similar the tornado with the cone on...what is most important, I haven't had any liquid running down the sides of my mods, I haven't had any liquid on my fingers :)

Looks nice! Thanks for the review Dereck72.

Do you eventually have to take it off and clean it out over time? Does it ever get full and then leak out?

I would use some soap and hot tap water once or twice a week. If its really loaded up with juice and I hear a gurgly sound, I would take a couple draws without firing the atty to pull the juice back into the atty.
If have a mod standing on its base with the atty up, the air-holes a high enough up, high enough that, it took about 1ml liquid before it started leaking out the air-holes. If you are one that lays their mod on its side, it would be easier for some juice to escape. If I intentionally try and get it to leak, I could. Normal instances of over-dripping from time-to-time I realize when my atty is getting flooded and I know to back off dripping, let the liquid in the shield suck back up into the atty, and it's working great.

Yes the backdrop is a nice pro-touch (shhhhh...it's only me holding up a pillowcase  )

Thanks sherri, I do like the look of it too...enjoy :w00t!!:

Got my Drip Shield today and I'm quite impressed. Those who know me know that I'd rather pour lemon juice into my eyes than drip but so far I'm putting 8 drops in and enjoying about 20 toots before re-dripping. I'm still experimenting so we'll see how much this thing can hold. I'm using it on my old Fistpack. Here are a couple of pics.

Great revier Derrick. So, people everywhere are pretty well swearing by these things and I havent heard much of anything negative about them. Do you think they live up to the hype?

Ok. after using this for a day I can say what they ARE and what they are NOT.
They are NOT an alternative feed system. I tried putting 10 drops in and while they don't leak, it does flood the atty which causes funky performance.

What they are is a great tool to have if you drip. I've had zero leakage, so your device stays nice and dry/clean. It also allows you to increase the number of drops used. When I've dripped in the past I found I could use no more than 3 drops in a 510 without leakage. You can easily put about 6 drops with the shield on with no flooding or leakage.
If I was a dripper I would not be without this device!
