Looking for e-cig

Postby larry_c » January 4th, 2012, 7:05 am

Hi, I'm Larry. First time here. I heard about electronic cigarettes and was wondering if it does help quit smoking. I have been smoking for 25 years. A pack of Marlboro Reds a day sometimes more. What do you suggest for me in terms of vendor, price and product quality. Is this similar to a nicotine patch except that you smoke it like a cigarette? Does it help with the urge to smoke cigarettes? I appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you.

Hi there, Larry! As a 15 year marlboro lights smoker, I can sympathize with your plight. You may get many recommendations with little thought behind them, but that's just not how I roll. There are many deciding factors to finding "the right kit."
I firmly believe that the best thing you can do is run right down to walgreens and grab up a blu disposable. Get started. Get your feet wet. Using an ecig is very intuitive. We can tell you what its like, but the best tutor in this case is a bit of experience.
Decide what you like and don't like, then do a bit more research. I will tell you that the kit that I have in my hand despite several mods is the volt from smokeless image.com

I do think trying a disposable Blu from Walgreens is a great way to see if an ecig is something you'd like. If it seems okay but you wish it were stronger, better, longer lasting - you're golden. There are a ton of options out nowadays, something for everyone's craving. If you like vaping you shop for an eGo/Riva/Brother style or up. Best decision I ever made was trying an ecig...over 2.5yrs later, you couldn't pay me to smoke and I was a heavy smoker for over 25yrs.

Once you get going you can get different liquids and adjust your nicotine level till you find what keeps you from smoking. To me ecigs are like having your cake and eating it too. I feel like I'm still smoking but I feel the health benefits of not actually smoking.

Thank you to both. I am lost with the terminologies but I've been mainly using google to research but there's too many of the brands I get confused. You said Walgreens carry a disposable? Good to know. I will also look for Ego and Smokless Image. So you do feel like smoking cigarettes? Thanks for the tip.

Welcome Larry - I completely agree with all that's been posted above. You may not find them on their websites, but Walmart and Walgreens store have begun carrying ecigs. Walmart carries one called Smokeless Solutions and I think I've seen pics of the Blu ecigs in Walgreens
You can also find disposables online from various ecig vendors: FSUSA, SmokeTek, Madvapes, Volcano, Clouds of Vapor, and the list goes on. Just keep in mind what Laurel posted - don't judge all ecigs by a disposable. If you think they "might" work for you but you're not sure, come back and ask as many questions as you need to. There's bound to be one out there that will keep you clear of the analogs.

Thank you everyone. You are so very helpful. Perhaps I will try the Blu from Walgreens first. I found a place called V2. There were so many good and helpful people there too like you. But I don't understand the nicotine level. I won't bother you with it since I already asked the question there. I will try go to Walgreens before I order from V2. In case you wonder how I ended up going there. I googled for the best electronic cigarette and the V2 comes up from most of the links I checked. None of you mentioned V2. I'm just curious. Thank you very much. Larry

Its ok kr808 is the type of battery. In the second post above someone mentioned a "volt" kit. I believe that is a much more reasonably priced kr808 set. In many ways the Blu set will be similar to a kr808 but its not exactly the same. V2, although they sell quality kr808 batteries, their prices are insane. ANd about nicotine level: 12-18mg is like a lite cig and 24 mg is like
a red cig, 36mg would be like a filter-less cig
