New guy from Cali

I all I'm glad I found this place. A few weeks ago I had no idea "Vaping" has come so far from those e- sigs I would see at the liquor store. It stll a little confusing and way to much to look at but I'll get the hand of it soon.
A little about me and why I am looking to get into this. I chew tobacco and have for 18+ years, this has to stop and now. Nic gum didn't work for me so I hope this well, I love all the ritual and pride of ownership in some of the devices so I think this just might work for me ( I collect custom knives and am on other forums and I see a lot of similarities)

I have never Vaped yet and still have to get a device but I have been lurking and what I have narrowed it down to is, I would like to pick up a super T PP 18350( I was pretty excited to place that order but when I clicked on ad to cart nothing happened, must be out hopefully more well come in soon so I can throw my can of chew avay and start a healthier life

I am also looking at the GG, and I love the looks of the epipemods, I used to smoke a pipe so I like that idea.

Any advice on other high quality Mods and vaporizers, companies, Jude, and custom devices well be greatly welcomed.

Anyway thanks for the forum an please excuse all the noob q I well be asking

Best regards,
Matt

Hey Matt! Welcome to the forum.

There are literally thousands of different mods out there to choose from. Picking the right one really comes down to a couple things. Once I have a chance to sit down at my computer (I'm on my phone now) I'll type it all out for ya and I'm sure that the other veterans around here could show you the ropes, too. Regardless of what you get, just realise that there is a bit off a learning curve so don't get frustrated if the first thing you try doesn't work exactly like you'd hoped.

Anyways, welcome to the forum! Don't be shy and feel free to ask questions.

Hi Matt! Welcome to IVC ;)

lol... You sound like you're going straight for the mods. Many start out with a smaller setup like an eGo but also most end up moving to bigger mods. I like your style! I don't have a SuperT or GG but many folks around do so hopefully if you have questions someone can jump in and answer.

Oh and the wood epipes from Matt epipemods.com are like works of freaking art!! Seriously lovely!! I have a gnarly dragon pipe but I really don't use...It is coffee table art ROFL!

Good luck!! Switching to vapor was best thing I ever did - over 2.5 years smoke free and feeling awesome!

Main thing for any mod that you're going to see is a certain battery type and length of vape time between charges. Larger battery = Longer you can go without charging.

Anything 18650 and up will probably last you more than a day of constant vaping, which is extremely nice if you've ever been stuck with a regular 510 style battery (which I usually get <1hr on before needing a charge).

The second thing for a mod would be the form factor and look. Pick one that you like and make sure the controls are solid from other people reviewing it. Two main types of activation switches: Mechanical, with a physical pin that makes contact with the positive end of the battery (or something attached to the positive end of the battery) and electronic switches, which are electronically activated. There are also a lot of variable voltage mods out there now that allow you to adjust the power going to the atomizer.

With the atomizers, you get to pick the style (510 and 306 have the same threads, 801's have different, 901's have different threads so make sure you pick the right on for your device's threading, 510/306 being the most common) and ohm/resistance of the coil inside the atomizer. The lower the ohms, the hotter the atomizer will get at a lower voltage. High ohm atomizers work well on high volt (5v+) devices.

  • Low ohm = <2.0ohm (standard being 1.5ohm)
You *must* use a <4.0v device on these, otherwise you risk damaging the battery and destroying the atomizer as they simply produce too much power for such a low ohm rating.
  • Normal = 2.1-2.8ohm or around that
  • High ohm = >2.9ohm +
Best for use on high voltage devices. Normal 3.7v devices won't work as well on these.

Last, pick up some juice to your liking and go vape. Liquid is usually either pure VG (Vegetable Glycerine), PG (Propylene Glycol), or a blend of the two (80% PG/ 20% VG). Be aware that some people are allergic to PG or VG, so be sure to try one or the other if you have any kind of mild adverse reaction to the juice.
