Forum Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a forum that is conducive to intelligent and informed discussion amongst adults. This forum will be a community without the need for over moderation or policing with adult members acting as adults.

Basic technical functionality is provided by our online bulletin board, but equally essential are the volunteers who moderate the forum and aim to lay out clear boundaries of socially acceptable behavior that will allow the community to grow and succeed.

Our vision is to create an e-cig resource and a community without incessant drama. We want this community to be a place that all members will feel comfortable sending family and friends to for information, support, and a little fun.

Our values are the core thinking behind documents like the forum rules and all discussion on the forum should aim to keep them in mind:

Respect - We feel that respect for others is something widely lacking elsewhere on the Internet, but is an essential prerequisite to creating an environment conducive to understanding and community.

Understanding - To allow members to educate and enlighten themselves on e-cigs and issues of importance to the community and ultimately understand each other, without necessarily agreeing with each other.

Community - The forum is itself a diverse community. Seeking to further the sense of community on the forum helps to improve understanding as it broadens the scope of interaction between members beyond differences and helps members to realize their common interests as people.

Tolerance - What is beyond the boundaries of acceptability and is totally impermissible on this forum is pure unadulterated hate that calls for extermination and evades dialogue. It is our belief that extreme intolerant hate speech is entirely incompatible with reasoned discussion, as it rules out from the start the possibility of understanding or respect for others.

It is up to each each and every one of us to help each other and to help IVC become an online community we can all be very proud to be a member of.
