Atty Ohm Reading Standard?

Postby mama » July 21st, 2010, 10:13 pm

Just curious if every atty out there has a *standard* of sorts. Like I know the LR510 is prime at 1.5-1.6 ohms, but what about the others?

901? HV? LR?
801?
510?
etc.

Would be cool to compile a list for reference. ;)

Well, I just so happen to have a copy of some troubleshooting info that Cash posted on ECF way back when...might be helpful...

"I tested a series of 5 different kinds... Here were my results:
4072 Average - 3.7 ohms
801 Average - 3.3 ohms
901 Average - 3.1 ohms
510 Average - 2.9 ohms
401 Average - 2.5 ohms"

Here's the original link ;)

All I know is 510's and the problem there is that every manufacturer is different! Every standard Joye 510 I've used is between 2.1Ω and 2,4Ω. The ones listed above in Gabby's post from Cash must be a different brand like SLB because I've never tested one that high! Then there's DSE and Keimer. Then you've got LR and various HV versions. I really think that every supplier should simply list the rating and brand of each atty they sell.

Yeah...the mfg isn't mentioned in the original post either AND that post is a year old. Thought it might be helpful as ball park figures.

I agree with you about the suppliers listing the specs on their atomizers. It would be helpful for the end user when they are troubleshooting.

It would definitely be helpful if manufacturers would supply the information on the ones they make.

Thanks and I bet we can still compile a list of sorts, since we order from all over. I have some SLB 901s and 510s (standard resistance) that I can test and report back on.

I did get some LR510 atties from EM and they are somewhere between 1.5 and 1.8.

I'm finding that good working 'healthy' 808 cartos are about 2.4 I see some 2.6, 2.7. Even in the same pack of blanks there's variation when new.

Bad ones that I'm tossing are consistently reading over 3 so far...they just get hot and don't produce vapor when they read much over 3 Ohms.

have you been trying them on different equipment and different pv's? if you're throwing away a ton of them, could be a fault somewhere else.

It's not a lot of them, they seem to die after a few consecutive days of use with a drip tip. Wash them, get another couple days and they are dead. I've tossed maybe four in what am I up to 20 days or so. Some of those have been long bored days at the computer cooking them steadily too. I'm easily at 5ml a day lately, sometimes more.
